While serving as the designer and project manager at Architects Beazley Moliere, Adam Beazley led the team in designing a remarkable new track and soccer facility, catering to the needs of both the track and women’s soccer sports teams of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. The project also entailed the addition of a secure entrance, concessions area, and press-box for the existing grandstands, enhancing the overall sports experience for spectators and athletes alike.

To seamlessly integrate the new facility with the existing grandstands, a well-conceived two-story building was designed. The press-box, thoughtfully accessible from inside the building, the first-floor exterior, and direct access from the grandstands, serves as a focal point for spectators and event coverage.

The building’s functionality was meticulously considered, encompassing second-floor offices for soccer and track coaches, assistant coaches, graduate assistants, and support spaces. On the first floor, a new entrance/exit corridor with public-facing ticketing windows welcomes visitors, while inward-facing concessions and medical/first-aid spaces cater to the spectators’ needs. This central entrance area is flanked by shower and locker facilities for both the soccer and track teams, public restrooms, laundry, training, and equipment storage, ensuring a comprehensive and well-organized sports facility.

For structural efficiency and aesthetics, the building’s design featured two flanking pre-engineered metal buildings connected to a two-story steel-framed central core, which artfully cantilevers over and onto the grandstand. The combination of corrugated metal panels and brick cladding lends a modern yet visually appealing touch to the facility.

This outstanding design-build project was completed with a budget of $3.2 million and successfully unveiled in January of 2016. The team’s expertise and dedication to excellence shine through in this well-executed design, providing a state-of-the-art sports facility for athletes and fans to enjoy for years to come.
